For the 2023 model year, the GLS is available with two powertrains. These are an inline-six, turbo 3.0-liter, 362-horsepower system and a V8, turbo 4.0-liter, 483-horsepower engine. Both are associated with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, an adaptive air suspension, and a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. This equipment is also offered in the 2024 model year. However, the inline-six engine now produces 375 horsepower, and the V8 engine generates 510 horsepower. The more powerful engine is also available with an Off-Road Engineering package for the first time in 2024. With this package, the air suspension system can add 1.2 inches of additional ground clearance, enhancing underbody protection.

Appearance

Updates have also been made to the interior and exterior styles of the latest GLS. Inside, a few new color options are available for the 2024 model year, and the steering wheel has been redesigned. You will find revised taillights and a modernized front end on the exterior. Specifically, the grille has a fresh look with thick, wide bars running horizontally. This bar theme is also found in the reshaped air vents, now outlined by a dark, molded element. The LED headlights are now styled with short light bars and a swooping upper light bar.
