What's New for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
The regal Mercedes-Benz S-Class received stunning updates from front to rear in 2021 as the seventh generation was introduced. Because many aspects of the S-Class were improved upon last year, there are only a few minor updates to mention in the 2022 model year. For example, the graceful exterior design has now been enhanced with several new color choices for you to consider. The style, however, is unchanged. It continues to reflect the sophistication and excellence of the Mercedes-Benz brand. This is accomplished with its confident, gently angled hood and steeply raked roofline. The grille is adorned with horizontal chrome bars, and a prominent hood ornament rises above it. The beautiful headlights add to the appeal with their bolt of LED lighting.
Under the hood, you will find another critical update. An adaptive suspension system, known as E-Active Body Control, is optional across the three trim levels. The two powertrains remain the same. The introductory trim level delivers a solid performance with its 429-horsepower, turbo 3.0-liter, V6 engine. The more powerful engine is a 496-horsepower, turbo 4.0-liter, V8 engine. These are both offered with 4MATIC® all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
There are no significant updates to the S-Class’s features. The base trim level is well-appointed with leather material, massaging and heated front seats, a 12.8-inch OLED display screen, a wireless charging pad, wireless smart device connectivity, eight USB-C ports, a Burmester sound system with 15 speakers, and more. Higher trims have numerous rear features, such as memory settings, an entertainment system, a second wireless charging pad, a control panel, a four-zone climate control system, and more. Safety technologies for all S-Class trim levels include an automated parking system, a surround-view camera, a front dash cam, and more.
