With its compact models selling very well over the past few years, Mercedes-Benz has elaborated on that success with a futuristic compact sedan concept. The brand revealed the car at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Everything about this design is striking. The headlights immediately grab the eye (even without the close-up shot!) and the overall aesthetic is sleek and aggressive. Mercedes-Benz focused on a single design paradigm of “sensual purity” for this concept, and it shows.
The exterior lines of this car have been minimized, making for a very smooth surface. The door handles are nearly invisible. The angular structures inside the headlights provide appealing contrast to the immaculate silkiness of the car’s body. Their conspicuous glow comes from a coat of UV paint and subsequent exposure to ultraviolet light.
We love the cool, minimalist lines of this concept car. Hopefully Mercedes-Benz will continue development with this idea and we’ll eventually get it into the showroom!
